10. Mini-study summary — corrections to remember

This is your quick review of the clickable exercises. Read it once before class and try to use these patterns when you speak.

5–7 min
1. Negative sentences: don’t + anything

After don’t / doesn’t / didn’t, use anything, not nothing.

I don’t have energy to do anything. I didn’t do anything special. She doesn’t want anything.
2. Feelings: feel / be feeling + adjective

Don’t say I’m feel. Use I feel... or I’m feeling....

I’m feeling more normal now. I don’t feel well. This weather makes me feel unmotivated.
3. Routine: get back into + routine

For returning to normal life, the useful chunk is get back into my routine.

It’s hard to get back into my routine. It’s taking me a while to get back into my routine. I’m slowly putting my life back in order.
4. Mada / third person: she doesn’t + base verb

With she / he / it, use doesn’t + the base verb.

She doesn’t come with me. She doesn’t like walking. She starts running around the house.
5. Fear: be afraid of + noun / -ing

The natural structure is afraid of, especially when you talk about fears and risks.

She’s afraid of the rain. I’m afraid of hurting myself. I’m afraid of being caught by surprise.
6. Pain and exercise: hurt / pain / bruises

Use hurt as a verb. Use pain as a noun. Use bruises for purple marks on the skin.

My legs still hurt. I feel pain in my body. I get bruises very easily.
7. Mindset: natural reflection chunks

These are the most useful phrases for your final speaking in class.

I admire people who challenge themselves. I always imagine the worst-case scenario. I hate being caught by surprise. I’m learning to accept that I can’t control everything. Both things can be true.
